Research line
Systematics and Ecology
Development of research aimed at the observation and characterization of the main units of biodiversity (eg, genes, species, populations, communities and ecosystems) and the quantification of variation within and between them (eg, interspecific interactions, genetic distances, phylogenetic relationships, geographic patterns diversity variation). Such studies aim to know and map local and global biodiversity, identifying the main centers of endemism. It is a line of research that will include integrated studies of systematics, phylogeny, biogeography, morphology, management, ecology and behavior. In more detail, it aims to develop research that contemplates: sampling methods to obtain qualitative and quantitative information from different groups of invertebrates and vertebrates; population growth studies; study on the phylogenetic and biogoegraphic relationship between the different taxa and their variations in large scales of time and space; plans for the conservation and management of animal diversity; continental water structure and dynamics; studies of interactions between insects and plants; bioecology and ecoepidemiology studies.
